Can I give you a hint Larry? When taking shots (especially in bright sunlight) of pure white things such as this swan, it is a good idea to reduce the exposure by about 1 stop, and avoid the burnt out highlights which is what is happening here. The boating lake swans, here in my little town, are due to start hatching their eggs tomorrow, so I will be down there to catch the moment the chicks start to appear. There are 10 eggs - they usually manage to raise 8 or 9 cygnets.

Here I like mainly the clear water, allowing to see the swan searching for food in shot 2, as so as the blue reflection of the sky in the water.
