I have never felled better about myself and shall dance all night long….

I feel more confident now about my appearance than I did when I was in my twenties and thirties. I believe being self-confident is not just about how you look or what you wear. It’s all about how you feel inside and women who are comfortable with themselves glow with the assurance of maturity and I know my best years have yet to come.

It frustrated me to see what fuss and dilemma the pro-age Dove commercial created on television some months ago to the point that the Dove commercial was removed. Being rebellious and myself I thought of doing this post on my birthday.

Re- the Dove Pro Age Ad:
Being 50 (60)now is very different from being your grandmothers 50. Ninety-one per cent (91%) of women aged 50-64 think it is time for society to think of aging in a more positive way, and the same number agree that they are not represented in popular culture. Eighty-six per cent (86%) of these same women take pride in sharing their age, despite feeling that society is less accepting of their appearance than their younger counterparts (97 per cent of respondents agreed with this), says the new global study, commissioned by Dove entitled Beauty Comes of Age.

"Society continuously tells us to defy and minimize our age, yet this generation of women shows us that the later years in life are something to look forward to and enjoy. In fact, these women define what it means to be 50 and still young," says Dr. Susan McDaniel. "It is time for society to catch up to these women's views and re-shape how they think of mature women and portray them across the board."

(The photos have been taken over the last year and are all self-portraits I have a great time experimenting with light etc.)

thank God it is different than out grandmothers 50.. everyone use to be put in a box..:)!!!I think you look beautiful and healthy and are a great example and I agree with everything here... wonderful post :) !!!!

You are a very beautiful woman. I admire your courage. Not many women of this age are willing to present themselves as you do here and that is so sad. It is time for women and men to accept who and what we are, no matter what we presume society dictates. Sincere bravo.
