The lighting was pretty poor, and I was lucky to get this shot. There were actually a nesting pair of eagles in this tree, but only 1 stayed around long enough for me to shoot!
This is a slight crop of the original. Taken with a 300mm zoom lens, handheld @ ISO 800 to get the shutter speed fast enough for handholding. Oh for a 500mm or 600mm prime! |

Oh!!!!! The title is perfectly chosen! That look has no match. Unbelievable! Superb capture. The bird is well framed with the branches and really stands out in front of the bright sky. Superb!

this is like, the perfect photo! absolutely amazing! i was telling soldatnamanda that she was so lucky to see so many eagles - i've never seen one in the wild so close up! not sure they nest near chicago... anyway, saving this to my favs because this is one awesome bird!

I agree, they are so impressive! I'm so glad there are more and more of them around.... it used to be that you rarely saw one and now it's not uncommon in this area. FABULOUS shot, saved to favorites.

I've only seen a bald eagle in the wild twice, and of course I've not had a camera with me either time. I won't make that mistake again. This is really a great shot. Especially hand held.

Great shot! I couldn't agree with you more. I always stop whatever I'm doing and look up to see an eagle flying. It's a little scarier when I'm driving. . . I feel bad for the other drivers.

Awesome picture. I too never grow tired of seeing it. One would expect that you took this picture up in the mountains. It's amazing to me that we were next to the freeway. It makes me sad to think about the loss of all wild creature's habitats.
