Oh, yeah, predictable!!! Nothing wrong with that, tho!! These are just lovely - the first one is really cool - I even like the leaf that "she" is on. I do like that you can see the legs in the second. Very nice macros, Mat!

Fantastic macro shots, Mat! Both of them. The first has a wonderful composition and the second has truly amazing details! Colors are great two. I presume you had to use a tripod with such a tiny DOF? Superb job again. You always keep impressing me Mat!

Awesome macro shots. Fantastic colors and focus. The contrast between the orange and the green is lovely too! You must have been close to get such a narrow depth of field. Was anyone watching you? I used to laugh at how un-glamourous it must look to chase bugs around with my macro lens in a garden. Of course, it didn't stop me.

But did you know there are over 5000 species of lady beetles?? And the larvae stage looks totally different? We were killing them in the garden until we got educated about what they were. There are spots near here along the Bear River where they congregate massively. People gather them to sell to gardeners! Excellent shots!!

haha - funny guy you are mat... :-) first one is my favorite - the leaf is very cool too, and the focus is perfect! ever see a 'japanese beetle'?? they used to (or maybe still do) use them to keep the other bugs away from crops and when i lived in ohio they were EVERYWHERE during certain months. and they bite! ouch! i started hating anything that looked like them (they look like ladybugs only more orange and barely any, if any, spots). they would congregate by the hundreds and die on your windowsill or in your lamp shade. sooooo gross. and i mean HUNDREDS - no joke. ok. i'm done. nice photos :-)

Okay, thanks. Now I want a 60mm macro lens! I thought I was well equipped with my Nikkor 70-300mm f4-f5.6 lens I got for Christmas, but now.... Both shots are fantastic, but I love the color variation of the first shot.

Your macro shots are wonderful. Thank you very much for posting your "recipe". I'm always curious how someone gets a particular shot and it's so helpful to see the settings used. Thank you for teaching me.
