I think my son Connor was making faces at Kyler (middle). His facial expression is priceless. From the top of the Needle.

What a lovely family you have. Your portraits are very nice - very obviously a group of loving people. I love the group hug. I guess you can say these are - Craptacular! :-)

Crapalicious? Ha ha. These pictures c(r)apture the fun of the day. It was somewhat expensive but I think it was worth it. Great shots again!

ok....so Im going to come off really badly here..but I feel I can be honest with you. I don't like any of these shots at all. I think its just best if you stick to nature photography...... LOL....as if Id say that!?! I actually just wanted to se what it felt lie to say something other than "Awesome job Mat"...lol The essential elements to a good portrait are all here.......start with some fun, add a holiday and a little sunshine, throw in some attractive models and finish with a whole lot of love...As I always say, I love to see the personal side of my favorite bloggers. It's an honor to be able to share your family moments if only for a brief time. Conor is real cutie!! Takes after Heidi I can see ;)..and what a family portrait your brother has to cherish with 4 in particular. good stuff ...................as per usual :P

As i comment in Heidis blog, I love happy family sets, and this is a great one Mat! Fab! And Seattle looks fantastic, did you know that Seattle and my hometown Bergen are twintowns? Well, they was earlier anyway, and also Bergen is the town in Norway with most rainy weather, a rainy city like Seattle! Seattle is a lot bigger though... Nice set Mat, I dig it..

i like that shot you took at 17mm, i think you have a wide angle to normal zoom lens you're using so i think it would have to be a rectilinear lens. but, at 17mm nearly has a fisheye feel to it. the last one is my favorite of the bunch.

I have a problem with portaits myself, so I know where you are coming from! It is a scary thing. With landscapes you don't have the human movement and expressions to deal with. I think it is so much easier for me and I feel like people expect me to know what I am doing because they have saw pictures that I have taken. Portraits are just hard, I think!

Excellent new CRAP! I know what you mean about portraits and people, they are my most challenging subjects to shoot too. I love focussed's comments, very funny! The needle is extra expensive, but once in a while, it is worth it to go see our great city from up there. As for the photos, I think I like the group kiss shot the best, just captures family and their love. Nice set of family on a great sunny day in Seattle!

there's nothing like happy family portraits! and i think you did a great job capturing these! especially since there is a large city behind them :-) i have three favs here. #1 because Heidi is beautiful! #5 because everyone's expression is so happy and i love that the shot is towering over the city with those great horizontals behind them and the mountains in the distance. that's one thing lacking here... and last but not least #6 - just a fantastic photo of them! be happy that you have family near by to take photos of! i need to bribe my mom and brother (especially have to bribe him) and aunt to come visit me so i can get some family portraits!

In my opinion, family is harder than strangers when it comes to portrait photography! #3 is framed perfectly. Wonderful background! I also love the pose here with both of the parents holding the child. Posing is definitely one of the hardest parts...especially when you have multiple people involved. It is funny that you are talking about hating portraits as I am remembering today how portraits are what first got me passionate about photography. I think it is awesome that you are trying to keep yourself trying new things!! I always love to see what you come up with! Oh yeah, and Heidi is indeed gorgeous!! =)
