If you're a vegetarian, then perhaps you wouldn't mind the popcorn all over the ground these guys were munching on.

And who wouldn't want to eat their TURDUCKEN, Shell-rotted turtle soup, dirty popcorn and squirrels full of cholesterol under such a beautiful pergola? Even Rednecks can be refined!

Um, slightly disturbing. :-) Awesome post, creative and entertaining! I love the fact that you posted #1 even though its not quit as crisp as you hoped. Yes, warped but we wouldn't expect anything less! :-) Cool turtle shot, really like the lines from the reflected tree limbs.

This is very wrong! Bad Mat! :) But a funny take on the theme. That squirrel looks pretty lean! What a poser!

hehehehheheehe i can't stop laughing, this is hilarious!! Great post Mat!! :) What in devil's name is a TURDUCKEN? Now that has to be some kind of made up animal! I keep thinking sharks with laser beams from Austin Powers... lol Ok, so on a more serious note, I can understand your frustration and disappointment in not achieving what you hoped, but I think you might be being a little tough - it wouldn't be an easy shot to take, and I think it's marvellous. A little blur adds to the character and speed of the squirrel, I think :) Once again, very well done - and great injection of humour :D

Ok firstly - Im TOTALLY weirded out by the fact there are squirrel recipes!.....Although as a very cheeky prank I might try to cook the squirrel dumplings some time and dish them up to Mark....hehe..now I just have to get a hold of a squirrel...hmm..i wonder if possums will be an ok substitute? Secondly - bravo for posting a SLIGHTLY out of focus shot!....I felt the same when I posted the frog whose back was the only part in focus... ..... It really doesn't detract from the photo though ..he is so cute that it can be totally over looked and forgiven :) Besides, those little things are so skittish..i remember trying to catch them in Canada and it was certainly hard work... I found the sepia tone column shot interesting. I'm not sure ive seen a sepia from you...*tries to remember*...nope cant recall one. Anyway..you know how forgiving we all are here of the occasional "not so perfect shot"..so it's nice to see you starting to feel ok about posting the photo's you dont feel great about. It just serves to remind us all your not "Mr Super Photo" all the time and are a little human like us ;) BTW - i think i might start calling you MSP from now on..lol

Yee Haw, what's for supper grandpa??? Yep, totally warped Mat and I love it!! Count me in with slowpete as another nut... I've never stated this in public, however I have prepared (didn't eat it though) a fine squirrel dish in my time. Just a little tip for focussed...no need to chase down a squirrel, fresh road kill works. As for the waterfowl mutant...I believe they are quite the delicacy, knows as "turkin nubbins" or "chickey nuggets". I hear turtle shell rot is desired with false teeth...I'll bring the lace table cloth for the table under the pergola!! ; )

There you go again, being too harsh on yourself. The squirrel shots are wonderful! They never let me get that close. Maybe in time, as long as I keep putting out food for them. :) Your post cracked me up - a wonderful way to start the day! And mmmmm, turducken - I had it for Christmas! The last post is absolutely gorgeous. I love the pergola - the composition, the sweeping curve, it's perfect. Well done!

I thought the squirrel was shaking cuz you were going to make squirrel gravey out of him. He is so cute how could anyone eat him?? What is that mutant turkey chicken thing?? The last shot looks like a great place to park my motorcycle slam a dew down and gnaw on a 1 pound hershey bar with almonds...who knows maybe a squirrel will come and eat the alomonds??

Well Mat, you don't surprise me at all! I knew you were a true redneck all along. I just can't believe you knew where to get the squirrel recipes! Trust me I know a lot of rednecks. We have some friends that like to go turtle hunting or whatever you want to call it! lol As for the first shot, I love it!

umm - ewwwwwww!! haha, i was seriously getting grossed out - then i saw that turducken and suddenly i was drooling... i can't believe you found one in the wild! toooooo funny - you could keep him as a pet until next thanksgiving. you could name him 'dinner', hehe. your sense of humor is a little warped, but much appreciated, by me at least. although you are just joking at the squirrel, but the fact that there are recipes mean that someone else is not joking... ick!!! that first shot is awesome - even if the results frustrate you. i know how that feels - but believe me, we all love the photo anyway!

Squirrel Recipes!?! I first thought this was a joke... Anyways, the first shot is nice even if it is a bit shaky...That little buddy is so cute, he's even smilin' ! But my fav here is the turtle shot : Beautiful composition, gorgeous reflections.... Wow! And that turducken... Any recipes for that thing?

Oh my goodness! LOL! Leave it to you to come up with this for the food theme! The first one still totally cracked me up, and I am finding that I am the queen of camera shake with this new cam so I feel for you! I am soo glad you still posted it though! Totally worth it!

Hahah...wonderful! I added #1 as a fav. Squirrels are so funny to begin with, I couldn't stop laughing at that pose you captured. My brother and I tried barbecued squirrel once a long time ago. I'm not sure about the cholesterol levels of it, but the drum sticks were too small to make it worth the trouble...hahah

Hey... does anyone REALLY like totally "normal" people??!! But what I really want to know is why Lex got TurDucKen credit!!! JR was the one who made it!! :-) Now that we know what it looks like in the wild, we may just have you get the next one instead of paying to have it shipped from Louisiana! Fun set, Matt!

I knew there was a reason I love your blogs. I have been laughing, call everyone and telling them about your post. I love the movie Christmas Vacation.
