I had envisioned this shot in BW when I took it. Something about the root systems of these trees that just stuck out to me as looking cool, and especially cool in BW!

I can't believe these guys would be seen with a NIKON guy ... especially one that rolled around in the dirt all day long!

I love the simplicity of this shot. The snow capped peak reflecting in the crystal clear pool, and the small wildflower poking its way through the snow free ground. Special thanks to Eric for making this shot possible, by helping pop some light on these little beauties with my reflectors. Thanks again man.

Several more images from the trip that Julie, Eric, JR and I took up to the Sunrise area of Mt. Rainier National Park. Many are similar to ones from yesterday, a few slightly different shots. Believe me, you owe it to yourself to click ... They're that good.
We started our day at the parking lot of the Sunrise Lodge within MRNP. At 6400', its the highest point one can drive in the park. We opted to only climb a few hundred vertical feet, instead of climbing to the summit of the 14,410' peak.
You guys have no idea how much fun I had during this trip ... even if I was outmanned by 3 CANON shooters, and teased unmercifully about my lens hood! Again, as I stated yesterday ... find some people local to you who use this site and put something together! Believe me, you won't regret it.

12, 13 14 & 15... amazing clarity! Wow! And I think in #8 you were channeling Ansel. Is that the 5D?? I should know by the back of it.

Well, Mat, this is again a truly fab set, but some really took my breath away: #8. Heavily detailed landscapes can look wonderful in B&W. So is the case here. Very clever choice -to my eye- with this one. #12-13. Simply stunning beauty. Perfect composition and exposition. The colors are awesome.

#5 is awesome!! I didn't see you take that one. It turned out just perfect in b/w. #8 is awesome in b/w too. I like the simplicity of #11 too.

These are such amazing shots. All of you should be really proud. I love that the water looks like glass - makes for gorgeous reflections. I also love how your sense of humor shines through your shots. You really do go the extra mile for them, and it shows!

WOWOWOW!!!!!!! So many beautiful shots, but I'm just loving the B&Ws. YOu worked number eight with perfection! The sport shooters dream or nightmare is my most favorite! I just about hit the floor when I saw it. You know it and know me. I love that camera so much, but I'm in hell with it right now with my work flow. Too many fps! LOL You have such a good and creative eye. I enjoy your photos so much Mat. You've got a gift.

This is a fantastic set again! (Despite that Canon in there! ;) ) It is so beautiful up there and you found so much great stuff along the way. My favorites are #11 and #15. And the critter. :)

Majestic mountains and green fields... where could you go wrong? The snow-capped peaks are amazing. #15 has a refreshing perspective.
