Montana Flyfishing?!
Okay, so as I mentioned yesterday, the fishing wasn't as good as year's past due to myriad reasons. In an effort to gain something out of the trip, I found myself shooting many more unusual things than I would typically shoot on a flyfishing 'only' excursion to the Rockies. I didn't take nearly as many shots as I'd hoped ... and I wasn't able to cross as many off my list as I'd hoped ... but still managed to get some stuff that was unique, interesting (to me anyway!) and blog worthy! We did catch many fish, and I will share some of these with you in due time. =)

One afternoon, I found myself looking at some orange colored 'fungi' of some sorts. Now, Heidi simply cannot understand my fascination with all forms of fungi. She takes pics of weeds ... I take pics of fungus. What can I say ... I'm just wierd that way. Or is it I'm just wierd period?!

Along these same rocks, were some odd looking plants that I too thought were cool. They appear to be mosses of some sort, but I thought they were cool (no one else in my group understood why in the heck I was taking pics of orange fungus and odd mosses) and for some reason, I feel the need to share my oddities!

Given the nice responses to the Mayfly shots of yesterday, I thought I'd include a couple more. These are not crops. I was lying down in the rocks, camera steadied on the rock (since I didn't lug my tripod out to the stream) to get these shots. There was enough light to stop my lens down to F16 (on the 2nd shot) and still hold the camera steady enough sans pod to get a sharp shot.

And lastly a couple of other odd 'flyfishing' shots - the equine and the hawk! Now hawks are very prevalent along the farmlands of and grassy hillsides of Western, MT, as are horses. Given my recent desire and inability to capture each locally, given the opportunity I had to snap a shot or two of each. Nothing particularly special about either one, but they seemed to fit my eclectic mix of shots in this post, and thus made the short list.
