About 10,000 Dogs and 4,000 Cats are Put Down Each Year

2009.06.14
'Government admits killing 10,000 dogs a year as pet trade comes under the spotlight' - SCMP dated 10 June

He is Newfie, was rescued by Sally on 10th June from AFCD, any of strays, wild or surrendered dogs are destroyed after 4 days at the AFCD. He is only a very very few lucky one out of those figures.

This is new arrived 4 years old Pomeranian named Girlie
A Legistlative Councillor asked why the government keep destroying the animals but does nothing to control breeding

This Schnauzer Woody was being abandoned after had been adopted one year, it is really sad!

She is an overweight Japanese Spitz, Dumpling. Her owner surrenderd her to AFCD because she has skin problem. Come on! Skin problem is easily to deal with. Those people are mad!

Dorothy, a 9 years old Pug

A group of small dogs are being taken to the Homing Day at Wanchai Dog House

My favourite dog Tiger was saved from being abused and is waiting for a home

She is 9 months old Lorelei, she is a German Shepherd cross and good with children and other dogs

Alice: Seems Daffy is missing you and waiting for you to come back!

HKDR founder Sally goes to AFCD twice a week to pick some dogs and re-home them before the government putting them to sleep, this is what she is doing.
How good to save the dogs and find them homes? You can find the answer from this picture: Luna(L) and Lucky(R) both were adopted by one family and now are living super happy lives

Also for Monty (aka Cisco), he becomes the best friend of Miller

Greta (R) was adopted by them end of March. She is also good with this big dog.
HKDR needs your support and remember dog ownership is a lifetime commitment. If you treat them like part of your family, you won't easily abandon them

My husband comes back from a three-day fishing trip this afternoon. These are what he got

My dog is guarding them, hehe
