The General Store.

Those great boots would have sold for $20 or so... put into perspective, a night at the Inn, in the best room, would have cost 10 cents.

I just noticed the fire extinguisher... obviously NOT a period piece.
pixel
The Blacksmith. He spent his time making miniature horse shoes for the gift store... the kids were fascinated with the process.

Meet the Teacher.. she played the part very well...the school was a one room school, up to 40 children, grades 1 through 8 would have been taught all at once. Boys to the right, girls to the left. Sit up straight. SILENCE.
pixel
Children would have had to bring their own slate to school.

Rules for Students.
1. Respect your schoolmaster. Obey him and accept his punishments.
2. Do not call your classmates names or fight with them.
3. Never make noise or disturb your neighbours as they work.
4. Be silent during classes. Do not talk unless absolutely necessary.
5. When answering a question, stand beside your desk and speak clearly.
6. Do not leave your seat without permission.
7. No more than one student at a time may go to the outhouse.
8. Go quietly in and out of the classroom.
9. When sitting at your desk sit up straight. Do not slouch.
10. If the master calls your name after class, sweep the room, dust, and leave everything tidy. You may also be asked to clean the blackboards or bring in wood.

This was a demonstation of a student being caught using his left hand. Punishment varied, from the strap, to having your hand tied behind your back.
pixel
Math class was taught using an abacus.
