Day 195 - Stalagmites in cast iron
 I left it for a day, and I've told a few of you what it is, so now I'll let the rest of you in;
This is the underside of the lid from my cast iron dutch oven. If someone could tell me why this is cast in the lid, I would love to know.
[edit#2] a little digging, and I found out these bumps are supposed to make the lid a 'self basting' lid, where condensation drips from the bumps back down onto the food. I just know they are a pain in the bump to clean.
