I'm not sure how well these worked out. I'm not exactly happy with them, but I'm not sure what I should have done differently.

I agree with malquist above the knife and with you about how the cake turned out. But despite that I really like #1 and the idea but I think a little slant of the knife and a little glint of knife flashing off the blade would have been very cool.
