My neighbours have some talented kids. They are both creative, artistic and musical young men. They both are in rock bands, and they both act.

This is Griffin, he is bass player of his band, called Meteor Empire. He has also acted for several years in our local theatre company, 4th Line Theatre.

The theatre called with a panic request for a head shot. So they asked me if I would take some... of course I obliged.

Portraits are not my area, and this was tremendously last minute... but I wouldn't mind some feedback.

Hey, 1,2, 3 are fantastic, I think, for what he needs. They are interesting have personality and are well shot. They are very good. The B&W is great!!! I love the glasses! The last two don't have the pizzazz of the first 3. My faveorite is 3! Like the head tilt! danrav · 2011-03-18: 18:49

Portraits are a nightmare, no 3 is the one for me, it gives a better shape to his face and he looks better with his glasses on (meaning photographically). The picture looks more natural and a close up looks better and there is no distractions in the back ground, the position of the head is the key factor in this one. Very good shots - especially as impromptu ones. I like the side lighting (was this by a window?) though I think it's maybe a little strong on 4 and 5. I think I might be inclined to try darkening them a little bit. Jarvo · 2011-03-19: 17:29

I think #3 and #4 are pretty good. Both are well exposed, with good contrast (maybe a little bit too much contrast on #4, but that's a matter of opinion I think).
