Mass Observation Project - How I Get Along

2011.06.06
pixel
As odd as it may sound, I don't drive a car. So if I need to transport myself from A to B... this is what I use.
pixel
Transporting little ones when you don't drive requires the use of one of these... making it easy to also transport things from the grocery store :)
pixel
My kids all love their bikes... it's their mode of tranport in the summer.
pixel
I was feeling so awful about the state of my unfriendly environment for flowers (see the last SH post)... that I decided to weed it out today... I used the wheelbarrow to transport the resulting pile to the compost.
pixel
Many thanks to Jon for suggesting and coordinating this Mass Observation Project. It is in response to the project of the same name which took place in the United Kingdom in the 1930s and 40s to record everyday life. On the first Monday of each month Photoblog members will post a photo on a particular theme depicting life in their own country. A list of all of this month’s MOP photos can be found here.

A completely creepy "Only" for Ricky post is here.

ArtBee Interesting and enlightening Marjorie. Your modes of transportation require muscle power only....... No trips to the gas station for you to be swindled out of your hard earned cash. Wonderful set of great photos too! Well Done!

????? MARJORIE Hi ... interesting and exciting project will try to follow the pictures ... but I think I will be very difficult at this time .. I have many things in your head that you might end up not remembering .... I really like series.
A kiss for Cameron and Laci and one very big for you ...

Ryana Like your way of move. ;-)

poshrat My Grandfather referred to walking as using 'Shanke's pony' - must Google that sometime and see if it was a common ref. to walking - must admit I could/should walk more - but what with bears, cougars……...

lgnelson Very clever combination of modes of transportation!

Marzijapan FUNNY AND GREAT POST

stabeez I like the Birks. My Grandpa used to say, "hoof it by shoeleather" meaning, get walking and I'll pick you up along the way, when he would meet us to go to the woods to work with him. The stroller looks very imposing from this angle, like it should be in a monster truck competition. Hmmm? That would be an interesting competition for the fair this weekend.

gonia I like your pictures and ideas. I can't guess what's on the 2nd one till I've read the description.

danrav · 2011-06-06: 20:44
DancingDolphin A good way to get around... I'd like living somewhere where I could walk more often instead of having to get in a car to get anywhere.
DancingDolphin · 2011-06-06: 20:50
Jarvo Great set. Good to see some low-carbon travel taking place.

equivalence excellent, I'm so embarrassed to be so dependent on the car; when children were little I mainly walked and carried them on backs and in buggies and I was pretty fit
