I'm taking part in an online photography mentorship program being hosted on Google +. I'm not in the core group, but I'm in the auditing group, so we follow along with the assignments. According to the fellow running the program:

"This is a Mentorship program on Seeing. It's about “what” we see , and “how” we see it. I want to share with you a way to approach your photography with new eyes. I want you to begin to see with intention and with curiosity. To communicate what you are seeing and feeling, and bring it into your photographs."

So this first assignment is to shoot in Auto mode for the week and concentrate on framing. Stop, look, reframe, lather, rinse, repeat. He goes into detail about why... but idk...

My instant thought is OMG NOOOOO , what about my DoF? What about metering, what about exposure, what about the damned flash! What about... oh hell, what about my creativity? I hope I can do this.

Focus on framing. Its going to have to become a mantra.

I can see how this type of thing may drive you nuts....but in another way, sometimes by doing something menial over and over...you do gain something...I am thinking a la Karate Kid....wax on....wax off....lol...now there's a mantra!
