Our neighbor/friend returned from Italy with a gift for us, we didn't even have to collect her mail while she was gone, so I wasn't expecting a gift. I must have dropped many hints that I was expecting a souvenir.
What she brought back are these beautiful cups intended for limoncello. What she didn't know was that I make limoncello. I've got a batch seeping right now and tomorrow I'll be working on the second step - taking out the lemon peel, making simple syrup and mixing in the lemon juice, where it will then rest again for two months in a cool, dark place. Then in December it will take its journey to my father-in-law in Australia, where it will be summer - the perfect time for some cool limoncello. |
