First Trip to Porto's

2009.11.04
Porto's is another L.A. (well Glendale) institution I'd never been to. I've had cakes and pastries from Porto's but had never been there. I had to stop by another store near their Burbank location tonight, and just couldn't resist. I've heard so much about the scene - incredibly crowded, long lines and an amazing selection. I was not disappointed.

Porto's is a Cuban bakery that has traditional Cuban savory treats like Sandwich Cubano, Potato Balls, Papa Preparada, Media Noche Preparada, Pan con Lechon but also tons of sweet treats from all over the world of pastry. Great story about their history here.

Strawberry shortcake for Paul; pumpkin cheesecake for me.

This is a Refugiado - a guava and cheese pastry - one of their most famous items.

Egg bread twists.
