Yaoundé 2

2008.01.02
The lake...

This statue symbolizes the reunification/unity of Cameroon (it used to be divided into two parts: the english speaking part and the french speaking part). And a real long time ago, Cameroon even used to be a german colony...

For this one, I don't know exactly what it represents... I need to ask it, maybe Cameroon itself, because it has a triangular overall shape...All together in order to reach the same goal despite the different tribes... There are more than 200 different tribes I think in this country...

I was wondering why there were 4 children; someone told me it represented actually the North, the South, East and West...

Other side...

Building in the centre of the city...

There are a lot of chinese construction projects right now here...I don't know exactly what is written but I was told the aim was to construct a sportcomplex...

I LOVE the facade of this building! Every time I am around, I need to stop and admire the different shapes symbols of african art...

I went a little bit closer... but couldn't get a great complete picture because of all the cables :(( Still, I love it!

This picture actually needs to be after the 7th... It is the sport complex under construction at the "carrefour Warda"...

NatinKool Thanks for sharing your pictures of Yaounde, a city I want to visit, but haven't yet. Like you, I love the facade of that building, especially in photo 9. When I first saw your post, I thought of Andre Marie Tala's song Je Vais a Yaounde

miclaud Beau reportage sur Yaounde! J'adore la statue, elle est très représentative de l'amour d'un père, donc d'une patrie, pour ses enfants...
