Pic #10 Where Little Mountain Dairy used to be. My wife remembers this place from waaaay back. This used to be the only place around where you could get ice cream in those wee tiny cups that you pulled the paper lid off of, and ate the contents with a flat wooden spoon; remember? And if you ordered them in bulk, like for a family picnic or church function or something, they shipped it with dry ice to keep it cold? And when you threw it out, you had to keep the kids away from it 'cause they might hurt themselves on it? Boy, do I ever miss Goslings. It was archaic as all get out my contemorary terms, but was a wonderful place to brouse around in. Thgey seemed to have at least one of everything somewhere in the store. Remember the counter? The ladies used to write up every purchase on those old paper receipt forms that nobody uses anymore. I remember Goslings held a contest to see who could produce the oldest receipt. I think the winner was from the early 50's, though I could be wrong about that. #25 Carl's Meats. Used to be Carl's Dutch Meat Mart. He started that shop in the early 70's. Carl and his beautiful wife used to live down the road from me in North Mission on 10 acres of land. We shared a common interest in motorcycles (me in road bikes, Carl in dirt bikes). He had a Maiko 500 I believe..... Wonder if he still ownes that business?
