What a great way to spend a Monday -- crabbing off the pier, in the sunshine, no less.

The dredge vessel, "The Yaquina" was out between the jetties the whole time I was taking photos. Every couple of years sand needs to be dredged from the channel and dumped on the sea floor further out to sea.

When I attended my 20-year high school reunion a couple of years ago, many people said, "Oh, you live in Newport? How great is that?"
Most of them had been here on a day like today, no doubt, and saw the beautiful Yaquina Bay, the bridge, the beach, etc.
It is beautiful here, especially on days like today. However, once you get used to the ... differentness of living on the coast, it's just like living in any other similarly-sized town. There's work, weather, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, school, errands, shopping, etc.The beauty doesn't make all the mundane stuff go away.
Still, it is beautiful.

it always looks far greener on other peoples front lawns than our own doesnt it? I have to say though, Newport really does look stunningly beautiful. I really love the feel of each of these shots...especially the tones in 7 and 16!
