oepsie, now i get it. I didn't notice in the first shot that it was just the waste they were burning, as it looked like the tree was on fire at first. But whatever the reason is for burning the waste, i still think it's a risky business. Oh well, i guess they know what they are doing ;-) Thanks for the information!!

They do that in the US too. They say that controlled burns reduce the risk of huge forest fires. Like Peter, I guess they know what they're doing.

this has nothing to do with controlled burns and I don't suppose they should be doing this in a strict reserve area.
