Saturday I went with Julie to her daughter-in-law to be's bridal shower. It was up on Signal Mountain, so we made a mental note to make a few stops on the way home to take some photos.

When leaving the church we saw a side road telling of a park, so we turned left hoping for something of interest to jump out at us. I spotted a small waterfall on the roadside, so we slammed on the brakes and made a U-turn. We parked, got out and promptly began to go nuts taking shots. After about ten minutes, we decided we had conquered the waterfall (obviously not, cause I didnt post ANY of them) and headed to the car to leave.

As we pressed the gas, something happened...nothing. We were stuck. Panic rose up throughout our bodies as we stared at each other with the "oh crap" look on our faces. It hadn't seemed muddy... We tried some different things, you know, things we had seen in a movie or something. I mean, neither of us have any background in getting "unstuck." This was not our forte. HOWEVER, girl power prevailed. After somehow getting ourselves so close to the mountain that I couldn't even get out of my side of the car, we made a couple of smart moves, gunned it, and with a little prayer we skipped back onto the road.

Whew! It took a minute or two for our blood pressure to regain normalcy, but once it did we decided the adventure was still going. We stopped once more on the side of the mountain, making sure there was concrete this time, and continued our quest.

We rounded out the afternoon with a stop at the infamous "Spaceship House." It's also located on Signal Mtn. and I had never seen it before. It sure is a sight. Seriously, someone built this thing to live in. WHAT??

Fun times, I say, fun times.

I did get to have my date with Andre. It was a double date, actually. We met Brent and Lindsay out for dinner and a movie. (Leatherheads- it was ok) We really had a great time out with them, and without child. :)

We picked Cash up from the sitter, and came home to the Wii. After just about throwing my shoulder out playing tennis, we finally fell into bed. I dreamed about Wii Mii's last night.

Wow! That's quite the story! Glad that you made it back in one piece to share it with us! I love exploring, even with the outcome occasionally being the unexpected. We're suckers for signs for natural areas, makes trips to and from places a lot longer than intended sometimes. That's some house! I'd never want to live in it, but it's definitely a novelty! One of my college professors lived in a house that was underground, although he was a little weird. What and adventure you had - I'm glad it turned out ok! I think I saw that house on HGTV or one of those channels. If I'm not mistaken, the owner built it about 30 or 40 years ago, and it's still decorated in 1970's groovy, right down to the deep shag carpeting. ncshutterbug · 2008-04-21: 13:05

this is fantastic. i love that you "don't have a background in getting unstuck" i too suffer from this affliction. you wouldn't BELIEVE how many times i've been "stuck" in the snow and had to call my father, the expert, out to get me "unstuck". you'd think i would've learned something. i think these pictures are fantastic, but i know how it feels to take 300 shots and have 5 come out postable. happens to me every day. regardless, i'm loving 3 and 4. and clearly, i'm moving into that spaceship house with nick ASAP!
