05-03-08 Old Made New

2008.05.03

I had grand plans to get into the yard today. The weeds are beginning to out number the plants, and my window boxes are in desperate need of some impatiens. However, my plan dissolved when I awoke to thunder and rain.

It came down all morning, and only let up in the late afternoon. By then, I had created another plan...shoe shopping. Cash and I went out to Goody's, and I found a fantastic pair of Grecian sandals for 50% off. This kind of made up for the rain. :)

Last night we watched Charlie Wilson's War, which was pretty good. Gotta love Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Hanks. Tonight I think we will be taking on Martian Child for our viewing pleasure. That is...if we can tear ourselves away from the Wii. (Between you and me, I've been kicking Andre's butt on the Wii.)

Ok, so the chair. I found this chair at a yard sale years ago. It was all beat up and barely standing. I brought it home, and we set out to recreate it. It became me and Andre's little project. We sanded, re-stained, and re- upholstered the chair. It looks great now, and sits by our front door. I saw the sunlight coming through on it, and decided to give it a go. Nothing spectacular, but I did like how the light played across it.

Call me Venus in my new sandals-

focussed nothing spectacular? I really need to disagree with you here.. I think #2 is stunning! The way the rays come through and then you can see the dust particles floating in the air... so so lovely.
You did an awesome job with the restoration too!
