Seeing Past the Smell

The summer that Andre and I first bought the house was interesting. There were all kinds of flowers popping up all over the yard that we had no idea what they were. Some of them were in really odd places, too, as if a blind gardener was somehow in charge.

We found these pretty pink flowers growing on the side of the house. They look quite similar to a Hibiscus flower, but they aren't a bush. These flowers have long, very straight stems, kind of like a Gerber Daisy. I thought these flowers had such a pretty soft pink color, that I had to cut them and bring them inside.

Bad idea. These gorgeous blooms smelled the ENTIRE house up. I had to take them outside and get rid of them. From then on, they became known as "the stinky flowers." I now admire them in the yard thinking, "such a shame..." But I never, I repeat never, cut them.

Anyone have any idea what they might be?

Nose plugged, but eyes wide open-

oldbabe Did they pop up where long slender leaves used to be in the spring? Then they are "surprise" or "resurrection" lilies. That's my first thought.

Or they are asiatic lilies - some which smell- but mine mostly smell nice.
