You cannot trap tommorow

Monday morning and back into another week of work after a weekend which now seemed like a passing dream.
At the moment, my office is my own - usually shared with another manager, the position sits vacant, as does the desk opposite me. There is no escaping the mountain of shelving to do and the pile of paperwork for upcoming planning... no one to idly chat with, just a window to look out of and contemplate...
As I started to delve into what had to be done, a knock on the office door, revealing to my surprise, my brother, recently arrived back home from Sydney after quite some time away. And with him, a beautiful bunch of red roses, pre-empting my birthday for tomorrow.
The colour just seemed to saturate and liven up my beige surrounds... and reminded me just how much I had missed my brother.
