For some reason, I have a thing for maps, from the street directory to a world atlas... the ideas they present, the fact that any page you open, opens up a new world, another way you
haven't been, a place you've not heard of and suddenly want to know all about it, and maybe even go there... perhaps sometimes it's not really where you're going, but just the fact that you are going, moving...
Sometimes I really wish I could literally just open this atlas with a blindfold on, and whatever page I opened on, I would go there with a moment's notice. I'm going to do that soon...

KerBear Great set Jess! I agree maps are.... intriguing!! I have also thought so many times of just planning a trip by closing my eyes and finding a page... or throwing a dart at a map. It's so exciting to even think of doing something spontaneous like that... once I have some money put aside, I would like to think I will do the same :)

Emma Ooooh I am a map freak too! When I was younger my parents purchased me an atlas and I memorised the capital cities of each country....

lexlevans another fabulous set! i'm always amazed at those who made maps WAAAAY back when there were no planes to see the shape of the land! as a kid i loved taking car trips and highlighting our progress on the map :-)

photopoet Great quote, words and photos. The second is my favorite. I'm in the midst of writing a story about a woman who simply finds a place on a map by twirling around three times and then jabbing at an open map. And she moves to that place. I love when I find somebody simpatico. Forget the twirl—just do it.
