One of love's April-fools

2008.05.12
The month began, with a fresh start

A different perspective

I found myself wondering why this sign would ever be relevant inside a cemetary

And marvelled at the little plants that began to grow in my garden, in spite of my mistakes

In the beginning, I just wanted to sit down and take some time out...

But work beckoned...

As did some fun, club happenings

What lay at the bottom of that rainbow for me?

A family gathering took place after many years of attempts

I experimented ... and practiced... and tried... and failed a lot too... but I learnt so much

We went away... and I missed Caturday... so here's my late contribution!

I saw snow for the first time in a long time...

Wanted to eat berries that were probably poisonous just because they looked pretty

Ahh, yes... I put myself out there in all my vanity... hehe

And I ruined a lot of shots by simply getting it wrong... c'est la vie!

What a blur April was!!!

This month has been a blur.
Windows and doors both opened and closed on so many different parts of my life.
The lights dimmed and we turned our clocks back, things cooled and winter began its fast approach.
I finally got to take a proper break from it all and really got away.
So many day-to-day changes.

As we are almost halfway through May, I find myself full of mixed emotions. I'm hoping for results, both with my health and my work; and a light has come on for my future that shows no signs of ever being put out. Perhaps as things develop, I'll be able to share more with you all about it.

In the meantime, May unfolds...

I've been absent a lot this past week, due to my health, and apologise for missing all my friends' work - I'll be catching up real soon. I hope you are all well! :)

oldbabe Nice synopsis of a month in the life...kind of like a daily "dear diary".

Hope the health issues are of a fleeting and not more serious nature. And a light for the future sounds grand.

Emma These are such wonderful abstracts from your life.

I admire your approach and I love the title of this post. Your interpretation of each shot into an aspect of your life is both beautiful and creative.

Best wishes to you Jess; I do hope you are feeling much better soon xxx

etodd80 Wow, what a really cool and interesting recap of April. A great journal of your month with photos. I like the angle of your family shot and I like that you put up a shot of a mistake. It wasn't just a shallow, glossed over recap, you can tell it had emotion. What a cool post!

Hope you are feeling better!

LastFrontier Your narrative adds so much levity and poignancy to your remarkable photos. I love your interwoven theme again - #10, and admire glimpses and hints into your life, as in # 14, and #6, restoring paintings? Angles and perspectives in #1 and 3. Oh, heck, all combine into a fascinating set, but with a hint at something rather foreboding. Hope all will be well.
LastFrontier · 2008-05-12: 16:08

photopoet Keep breathing—I hope that your health improves and that the doors keep opening wider and wider. I love the variety of this post. My favorite is the second photo. The photo titled work beckoned is fascinating. Are you doing some cleaning of the painting?

mclps Time flies and you captured the essence of one month very well. I truly hope all will be well with you soon. Very encouraging about the "light that shows no signs of being put out." I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to say that. :)
mclps · 2008-05-12: 23:28

vollenda Your April mix was fun to scroll thru. I'm sure it will come as no surprise to you that my favorite was the little cuties in #11. I also love the tones and lines in #10 and #5.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope you are doing better. I'm also hopeful about the light that you mentioned. :)
vollenda · 2008-05-14: 14:36
ncshutterbug Welcome back, Jess. I meant to comment on your posts days ago, and I apologize for not doing so until now. I'm sorry to hear you've been in poor health - I hope you're feeling well again soon.

I sense a bit of melancholy - or is it just my own? In any case, you have such fabulous images here. They speak volumes.
ncshutterbug · 2008-05-14: 18:00
KerBear I love when you do these monthly recaps... it's nice to see some of the beautiful pictures posted before as well as others that never made "the cut". I love the way you break down how you felt through the photos..... and I find myself quite excited when I see you have posted one! Great job as always!
KerBear · 2008-05-14: 20:38
jim7221 Not often I read others comments as I prepare to do my own... but I have here!!!.... and damn pleased that I did... some beautiful words and feelings... ;)
....And indeed what a great post!!..... I think all I will add is simply the fact I laughed (rightly or wrongly) at no3; probably NOT the best sign for the location!!! :P
PS- no15...wrong!!??.... I know what yr saying but is it really??... I like it..... honestly!!
jim7221 · 2008-05-15: 01:29

the12thdude All so different, it's like mellon and parma ham, all ingredients are tasty by themselves, but put together they gain a certain harmony...good work!

BreezyOnTheEyes it seems as though life is really reeling for many of us lately. for me it was the month of may, not april, that opened and closed doors for my life. scary but true the month is not even over yet and i find myself wondering what the world holds for me in the days ahead.

i too have been ailing, and missing out on a lot of the goings-on of my photoblog friends. i hope that you have gotten to feeling better within these past few weeks.

love and hugs always. ^_^
BreezyOnTheEyes · 2008-05-22: 00:49
