Day 4 of our journey was our first "port of call" and a two hour drive to Mt. Juihua to see the Buddhist temples. Symbolically, there are 99 curves in the road leading up to the town--and sometimes you wonder how the bus is going to make those turns! These were active temples that we were visiting. Many people had come here to pray and to make offerings. What surprised me most was the similarities of the Buddhist body language of prayer to what I am already familiar with.
