I already posted Windmill in October 2008, it's the same mill and it's the same info :

In 1856, the first mill was built in the "new" Haarlemmermeerpolder. It is called the "Eersteling" which means the "First One".
More and more houses were built in the village Hoofddorp and the mill was included.
After a long period the "Eersteling" fell into decay. The town-council decided to buy the mill, moved it in 1977 and restaurated it.

The removal to the dyke has taken a lot of doing. The whole mill but without the wings, was transported in one piece with special transport, a giant trailer.
Some trees had to be cut down, traffic-lights, lampposts and traffic-islands had to be removed.
The transport took a whole day and evening for about 2 kilometers. A spectacular expedition for our village, as you can imagine...

Nowadays the mill is open to the public, where you can see the mill in operation, and there is a possibility to buy flour.
