Theme: Where I live

2008.04.27
Bold TextThe view from one of our many lookout points. In the distance there are two church steeples, the Centennial Bridge (one of four bridges connecting the state of Iowa to state of Illinois)

The Crescent Railroad Bridge

Brady Street Hill -

Home of the BIX 7 to honor Bix Beiderbecke , . The annual Bix 7 road race, started in 1975, has often been run by over 20,000 people.

Another look at Brady Street. - This street is the dividing line between the East/West of my city.

WOC is widely known as the radio station where future U.S. President Ronald Reagan got his start re-creating Chicago Cubs baseball games.[
WOC (which stands for "Wonders Of Chiropractic" or World Of Chiropractic") traces its roots to 1907, when Robert Karlowa began an experimental station in Rock Island, Illinois. The station was known under several callsigns now is KWQC

The first chiropractic school in the world, Palmer College of Chiropractic is located just north of downtown

Davenport Central High School (founded 1904 under the name Davenport High School) is a four-year high school in Davenport, Iowa. It offers over 200 courses in a four-block schedule, as well as a variety of extracurricular activities, clubs, and teams.

Famous graduates include football playing brothers Roger Craig ...

But it is famous for Senor Lorio (my husband) retired after 34 years of teaching.

I've miss several days - due to LIFE (finishing projects), but I wanted to complete my theme Where I live.
I live in Davenport , Iowa
Larry and I are from the South. In 1973 Larry was recruited to Iowa to teach at Davenport Central High School . For the last 35 years this is where we call home.

Davenport has a variety of neighborhoods dating back to the 1840s.[20] The city can be divided into five areas for neighborhoods. Downtown, central, east end, near north and northwest, and west end. The neighborhoods contain many architectural designs including Victorian, Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, along with others.[

Davenport's biggest labor industry is manufacturing, with over 7,600 jobs[26] with a vast majority of the jobs coming from the John Deere factory on the north edge of the city.
