A View from the Sky

2008.04.29
The skybridge over River Dr. This "thing" shoots out then stops, a bridge to no where.

Part of the Redstone Building. This building house is were musicians traveling from New Orleans to Chicago played. It is now home to the River Music Experience.

A funny story happened to me yesterday as I was on a photo trek.

Originally, I wanted to take pictures of our downtown area in b/w. After parking I noticed the skywalk and decided I should take pictures of the flood, so up I went, cheerfully as I could be, because I was going to get "the shot" (bamommy was not there).

As I step on to the skybridge (a cross walk that jets across a major street) I suddenly remembered, I AM AFRAID OF HEIGHTS. Yes I was walking very careful across to get the shot. At night the skybridge has a laser light show. The lights are on the bottom of the bridge. I'm afraid to walk on them for
fear of falling to my death. But nothing was going to stop me!.

I took Giant Steps(mother may I). I was taking 3 little steps then one large step like a hurdle. I was holding on the to the rail (remember I am a germophobic) UCK.

I heard a kid behind me ask his mother, "why is that lady walking fun.". I almost died laughing, but I continued with my walk across to get the shot!. Not sure if I accomplished the "SHOT" but at least I tried.

ambersunsets You go, girl! Way to face you fears in the name of "the shot!"
Both shots have great perspective, and I really like the bw.

TheCrazyCroat You are awesome Marsha! Way to face your fears.

This is a really neat set. I looooooove the first photo. It has some really neat angles and your perspective is great. I also think the b&w adds a lot too.

MHJphotos What a great story Q! I can just picture 3 baby steps and a hurdle ... 3 baby steps and a hurdle! Hang on, but not for too long as who knows what might have touched this rail before me!

These are outstanding. I agree with TCC that the first shot and the perspective is fantastic. Very well done, and I for one am very glad you took your leap of faith and lived to tell about it! =)

CJLata What a cool idea to create a bridge to nowhere. That sounds like my sense of humor.

Thanks for checking it out. Now I know not to go up there. That looks creepy in 1 and I'm scared of heights too.

DancingDolphin This made me laugh.... good for YOU! I'm totally afraid of heights myself so I can absolutely relate. I felt like I was reading "the little engine that could" :-) Excellent shots!!
DancingDolphin · 2008-04-30: 18:35
MissKitty Wow! I got anxious just looking at the first one. I'm not afraid of heights or anything but it's still scary to be up that high!
