Palm Springs Aerial Tram

This is looking down the valley at the wee little building were we boarded the tram.

Notice the rocky mountain surface with very little vegetation.

And finally a view from the station at the top of the mountain. Totally different climate and scenery.

And a look at the snow. Many visitors were pleased to see snow for the first time.

And the acclaimed photoblogger, RayNvb, after having scaled this huge bolder without rope or pulley. He wishes he had taken a jacket!

It was traveling faster than I thought and I missed a good shot!

And the vegetation and landscape is becoming more desert like.
|
A bit lengthy I know, sorry. This series doesn't convey the splendid atmosphere and wonderful views from atop this mountain. It is just a sample. What is amazing is to see the terrain and vegetation changes as we ascended from desert to snow covered mountain tops. Over 10,000 feet (3050 meters) up. 90+F to 40F on this particular day.
