The Lakes of Luray Caverns

Great reflections are possible when there is absolutely no water movement.

That sign at the right border indicates the channel # to tune to in order to hear particulars about that area of the cave. Each visitor is given a head set at the beginning of the tour. There are many stations along the tour.

Although these are called lakes, the deepest point in any of them is only about 20 inches. They provide excellent reflection ponds for the stalactites that hang above them.

I have spelunker blood in me and this set is awesome! With all the magnificent formations, it's difficult to tell where the water's edge is! I'm surprised they let you take a camera in there - they won't allow it at Blanchard Caverns where we were last week. They have a special "photographers" trip for that! These are great shots - well exposed in low light.
