The Flip Side

2011.10.05
pixel
This is a companion shot to the image posted on October 4 (First Touch of Fall). Both shots are taken from a short causeway across a reservoir near my home. The October 4 image was taken a few minutes before sunset from the middle of the causeway facing east to capture the last rays of sunlight on the scene as they highlighted the first signs of color change in the foliage. This image, The Flip Side, was taken a few minutes later at sunset facing west (obviously!), also from the middle of the causeway. As noted in a prior entry (June 17), I like to try and capture jet contrails in the sky portion of my images. Here I was able to capture three of them at once and, when I processed the image last night, I discovered that two of the three contrails reflected brightly enough in the reservoir water as to be recognizably visible in the final image.
