2008.02.28
A night of snow! the poems in Poulenc's setting are by Paul Eluard

The American composer James Sellars Kissing Songs are wonderful - and little known. No 4 Slow Fox Trot begins .... "Though I with strange desire, to kiss those ruby lips are set on fire!"

What do ‘Un soir de neige’ and ‘Kissing songs’ have in common?

Well! It is nothing to do with leap year - it is just a plug for Saturday’s concert by the English Chamber Choir!
This Saturday you can here Poulenc’s Un soir de neige (Night of snow); James Sellars Kissing Songs, Bax’ Mater ora filium; Handel’s Chandos Anthem As pants the hart; Parsons’ O bone Jesu; and Schonberg’s Friede auf Erden - quite a programme – actually a fewother bits too – and supper and cabaret and ….

It will be a jolly evening! I hope this preview wets your appetite!
