Waiting for the phone to ring

Friday….., late morning,
Waiting for the phone to ring!
State of mind: confused, unable to focus
State of desk: mess
State of bank balance: terrible
Weather: cold, dull and very windy
Progress with list of jobs to do today: zero
Possibility of progress: currently zero


Yesterday was a big day – my second interview for a part-time job which I would really like. And would solve many problems. It’s down to two, I know that, but that is no guarantee.

And deep down I am convinced that there will not be a phone call, there will just be a letter returning my supporting documentation and an “it was an awfully close decision but” and as the day goes on I become more and more convinced of that.

So far this morning the phone has rung twice! Once it was Tuppy and a list of things I can do to help her – and which I could do today (but wont!) and once was Guy with news of Ann’s mother having a fall in Rhodes and maybe things I could do to help there (but wont - today anyway).

No today looks like being a write-off not even the ironing looks possible – and there isn’t much of that – it would only take a moment. But not today –today is destined to be a wallowing in indecision day – a day when maybe I could do so many things – even some work!

But no…
Because the phone might ring at any moment.
