Country life.

I am on the farm again! This time with the lovely cows. Glorious creatures resplendent in their black and white livery - and very friendly and nice too.

Creatures such as this have such an amazing grounding effect. Their very being seems to be connected to the earth.

I had a very sad experience here too - a lovely, beautiful creature- a calf (a veal as they called her) lay dying when Claude and I arrived. The calf had been dehydrating for three days when we got there and was past saving (in spite of Claude's tireless efforts to get her to drink) . But yet in death there is also life and the wonder of nature at work - beauty even. Even dead and motionless this little calf was still beautiful, still a thing of nature, a thing of beauty. A thing to be remembered, I shall not forget laying my hands on her and hoping that she would make it through - through to join the beautiful milkers that I so enjoyed taking pictures of.

Thank you little calf for making me think of life, of the earth and especially of beauty at a time of sadness. Of what we can learn. And of what we ought to cherish.
