London - Borough Market

Yesterday’s post was of the lovely market at Montcuq which I visited a couple of weeks back. This weekend I was in London and for a change decided to go to the famous Borough market to see how it compared. Originally this was a fruit market of late it has developed into a sort of gastro haven – the market equivalent of the gastro pub – and speaking of pubs…

There are dozens in the vicinity! Not to mention wine bars and masses of places to eat – so it does have a big advantage over Moncuq, which for some odd reason is sadly lacking in places to eat.

Anyway Borough Market is worth a visit – but it is packed solid with people, and unless you are about to go home and want to take lashings of French cheese, wine, bakery items etc etc probably not a great destination for tourists.

My own visit went on far longer than these pictures show – but I ran out of battery! So I will just have to go back another day! But not before I have returned to my spiritual home - Broadway Market - which I love!

And to end - a headline from todays Guardian newspaper which will probably be extremely puzzling to most - but may just mean something to cricket fans!
