Yesterday was a busy day at work - and no time to blog as I was out with a friend from my old job in the evening. A special evening with a chance to catch up on gossip and accidentally eat in a rather expensive French restaurant that has just opened in Spitalfields. le Bouchon Breton looks like an upmarket version of a Cafe Rouge - but once inside you realise that it is rather more than just upmarket its bloody expensive! The cheapest wine on the menu seemed to be a Fleurie - which was OK but nothing special and at £34 a bottle that's not cheap! But to be fair the steak frites at £16.50 was exceptionally good and cooked to perfection. Hardly the time to open such an expensive place - especially in rather odd surroundings - but if the wine was cheaper it would encourage me to go again.

And then - having just about recovered from last night is was off to Ealing for lunch in Carluccios with two old friends. The first time the three of us had got together for ages. Robin is a close friend and even has blog here - Martin (who I had not seen for several months) used to be a close friend but has drifted away into his own world - a computer free world - we even had to explain what a blog was!!!!

But it was a nice lunch and good to be able to put the world to rights, criticise all the bankers we know - try and stop Martin talking rot (he supports the Conservatives and we don't) - and the general waffle you get when three oldies get together and talk about things.

Then to Robins and a glance at his latest book (in French so hard to understand - but the pictures look nice!) and then to my favourite hairdresser the lovely Anna at Pure Barberism! What a great name!!

A nice day.

????? Old friends are better than treasures.
They make you laugh and refresh your memories.

????? I think Claude may have taken me, (and another friend, Phil), to Carluccios in Ealing a couple of years ago. We must have enjoyed it because I can't remember too much about it other than finding the place. Then again, maybe it was somewhere different in the same area of Ealing.

When I lived at Ealing Common I used to visit a barbers on Bond Street in Ealing, these days I'm looking for a decent place to visit 3 or 4 times a year now I can't nip out at lunchtime at work. Maybe I'll jump on an Ealing Broadway tube and have a look in the window at your place when I next need sheering (about 2 or 3 months yet). The place you went did a good job on you, but I offer a bit more of a challenge, (and when it's due it will be quite a thatch).
