Trust me, Robert, no you wouldn't. In the seven years I had a house there, the only Brits I met in the area either 1) mad or 2) deeply out of their element and slowly coming to terms with the fact they'd made a mistake. It is beautiful - I miss even the smell of the land - but very hard to live in unless you have family there. But try going to the Périgord noir in the winter, when it's even more beautiful, but a bit less touristy. Josephine Baker's chateau - which lies on the other side of the river from my house - is up for sale every five years or so and it goes for a song...
