You are, by the way, eating outdoors here - just greenery for a roof.

Traditional salad with barley rusks - a favourite.

Grilled aubergine with a yoghourt and mint dressing

Beetroot salad - made with goats' cheese, crumbled into the dressing

Lindian (small) prawns which you eat whole - cooked in white wine

black 'gigantes; (butter beans) in a sauce made from carob - unusual - but lovely

medallions of fillet steak in pomegranate sauce - it was absolutely mouth-watering!

Ohhhhh - this was amazing!

And they also do these daquari's - strawberry this - for my companion I haste to add not me !

This blog is about eating in Lindos' finest restaurant and sampling some fantastic Greek cuisine.

Mavrikos is one of the oldest restaurants in Lindos village. Over the past 10 years I have eaten in most restaurants in the village and though there is strong competition - notably from Ambrosia, Mavrikos does not compare with any of them in terms of sheer originality and invention and I always end up there!

Dimitris Mavrikos is a simply great chef. The tastes and combinations you experience in this award-winning restaurant are just fabulous, the prices are reasonable. On the down side the service can be variable - but I would put up with a lot to taste this food!

Its the Greek way to move on for puddings and straight after this delicious meal I was off to Gelo Blu (also owned by the Mavrikos family) in the centre of the village for the most amazing Banoffie Pie I've ever had!

ooooh, that food looks so good...i like the outdoor seating too, looks like a really nice place to go to!

I like the idea (in a theoretical way) of moving on for dessert somewhere else. A bit of exercise would often be beneficial to help make a bit of room for dessert. I'm not sure in practice however, could I be bothered to get up out of the chair...
