Symi - the great trek - two

I find Symi's terrain very appealing

whilst we had been walking, some people had come round on the boat and gone fishing

and still we went on - past the lovely coast line - drinking the odd ouzo and heading towards our lunch destination.
|
And so the walk went on....
In the pictures we start at Agios Ioannis Theologos where there is cool shade, lovely water from a cistern behind, and views through the trees to Ag Emilianos. This was a delightful rest!
Wes et off again through the juniper forest starting to make our way downwards. Then as we left the forest we were on a narrower path going steeply downhill over rocky ground- it was hard going and I fell down once - so not so many pictures!
Then we reach the bottom and my heart sank as I realised that to get to out destination we had to climb up another steep rocky hillside first.
But eventually - and towards the rear of our group I arrived at the jetty that leads to the Monastry - and to the boat that was moored there and waiting for me was ...
a glass of ouzo - I think it was the nicest ouzo I've ever had!
We were not walking back ( thank goodness - it was 12 noon now and very hot!) but going on a cruise round the island.

Hmm, you say "I find Symi's terrain very appealing" - I'd say I find Symi's terrain very appalling - it's all up and down too much for me. In #25 - did the ones who'd gone fishing catch the fish in the plastic bag?

This is "vacation"??? Looks like a lot of work to me! I'm afraid I'm terribly lazy. I once started out on a hike to some lovely spot in Hawaii, got tired, and turned around without getting there... it wasn't the first time. :)
