George Grard is considered one of the most important figurative Belgium sculptors of the 20th century. His momnumentale bronze female figures were highlights in the squares and parks in several Belgian cities. His most renowned is undoubtedly Fat Mathilde in Ostend (or official La Mer). He died in 1984.
