Fort La Chartreuse was built around 1800 by Dutch and after the Belgian independence in 1830 it has been owned by their southern neighbors, the Belgians.
During the first and second world war did the old fort served as a prison by the German occupiers.
At the end of World War II it was a military hospital for the Americans.
Until 1980 it was used as barracks of the Belgian Army and since 1980 the fort has been completely abandoned and taken over by nature.

Once in a while I love listening to screaming voices.
