I have a soul
that exactly fits in me-
I do everything with my soul
knock on my soul and dust it off
abrasions on my soul and blow away the curls
drill holes in my soul and fill them up again
with sober thoughts.

I wish I had more souls
and of a different kind
uneven souls curve souls
struggling souls like silverfish
and girls in a winter coat
black souls.

But my one soul
a fairly solid square and solid soul-
already fills all available space
and shrinks no millimeter
as long as I live.
