The title of this photograph is "虚影 / KYOEI(Transient shadow)"no.6.
I wanted to borrow the appearance of the visible world, and to clarify the one
not seen to eyes.
I wanted to clarify the shade part in the world by the photograph.
--------
Someone told me, "A negative film is a sheet of music. A print is a musical performance."
I agree with that concept.
Actually, the shape I burn into my printing paper is not exactly the same as what I have shot by my camera.
Even though a graceful building was filmed beautifully in the negative print, I might black it out by not exposing onto the final print. Even though a beautiful woman’s face was filmed in the negative, I might overexpose it to white it out.
If I just printed out what I have taken, I believe it would be a beautiful photo too. But I don’t choose that way, because that is not what I want to express through my works.
When I produce my works, even if that is a tedious one, I try to express myself who is standing right here right now at this moment. If you can get a feeling of me, an atmosphere I have reflected to, my works are successful.
