I love the gaslights on the Academy of Music building. For all I know, they could be clever fakes, but they flicker and look just like real gaslights. I can imagine Philadelphia being lit by lots of these in the days before electricity.

International Gaslite was the company that designed and installed them back in the late 60's early 70's. It is listed as a job that could not be done, but Jon McGrody (my grandfather and owner of Internation Gaslite) figured out how to get the gas lines through the cast iron. Yes, they are burning real gas.
