What Frustrated Scuba Divers Do....

2008.11.16
pixel
They head to the nearest aquarium to hang out with a few of their friends, of course!

This little guy is a french grunt, native to the Caribbean.
pixel
Moorish Idol, an Indo-Pacific fish.
pixel
An Indo-Pacific species of Angelfish.
pixel
This cute little guy is called a ribbon eel. He too is native to Indonesion-Pacific Ocean waters.
pixel
Yep, it's Nemo. Or more accurately, this little guy is a common clownfish.
pixel
One of my favorite species, this is a gray angelfish, indigenous to the Caribbean. The faint white bars he's showing are evidence that he's not yet full grown.
pixel
A Caribbean Reef Lobster in a typical pose.
pixel
Best enlarged to see just how bizarre looking these guys are.
pixel
A cowfish, also Caribbean.
pixel
Loved this guy's expression! He looks like he was quite surprised to see me taking his picture.

No exaggeration or photoshopping, these crazy fish really are iron shaped and flat on the bottom. I find them absolutely fascinating, but I am a fish geek after all!
pixel
Another favorite Caribbean species, this is a four-eye butterflyfish.
pixel
An Indo-Pacific species of tang.
pixel
Can't recall off the top of my head what these cute little guys are called, and it's late and I'm too lazy to go look it up, but they're indigenous to the Indo-Pacific oceans also.
pixel
Another species of clownfish.

A few photos taken at the New Jersey State Aquarium in Camden, now apparently called "Adventure Aquarium". After an extensive renovation and expansion, they have some really amazing displays. These are a few of my not too awful fish shots - lousy lighting and thick scratched acrylic was making me appreciate how much easier it is in the ocean. I need to go diving! Sigh.

DancingDolphin Nicely done! We had a wonderful time at the aquarium in Hawaii, I hadn't been to one for years. And you're right about the little guy in 10's expression... cute!

busybee36 Wonderful coloured fish, and also the lobster in #8. These shots dont look like they've been taken through glass (no reflections etc)
