All intelligent thoughts have already been thought; what is necessary is only to try to think them again. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Cool shot.....and I deeply hope that your quote isn't true!

Good one Carley. Like you, I do not actually believe that Goethe is correct. His thought seemed a provocative statement that made me think more deeply about it. The clue is in Shakespeare's last line of his Sonnet 16: And you must live, drawn by your own sweet skill. We are all unique entities with unique potentials which we manifest in different ways. Goethe's idea is untestable as it belongs to the realm of the 'Inner I' which only the individual can ever know; everyone else can only surmise what an individual thinks. However, ancient wisdom says that if you can think it you have started to manifest it in the world. A futurist Dutch friend of mine said: If you can create something in virtual reality we will be able to create it someday in the world. Perhaps what Goethe meant was that we all tap into the totality of all thought which is a universal consciousness (fide Steiner's Ashkashic chronicles) and like Rupert Sheldrake's idea of 'morphic resonance' many can tap into it simultaneously? All a bit much for an autumnal Sunday morning here in Bath, but there you have it for what it is worth.

I doubt the realm of intelligent thoughts is limited, and I'm quite certain the realm of stupid ones is infinite. Had a few myself actually.

Perhaps in the realm of infinite thoughts there are neither stupid nor clever thoughts, only a perspective.

What is intelligent for one can be foolish to another.... that's probably why we should always think twice :)))) great statue ! wonderful shot !

btw - all stupid thought HAVEN?T be thought yet, although we're all trying very hard every day. thank god goethe, that intellectual cookie monster, is dead long time. he's been uttering way too many of these aphorisms and somehow i can't help but yawing about him all the time. as for your sculpture picture, i'm more reminded of franz kafka's terrible short story "the metamorphosis"... probably because his back looks like that of a cockroach.... ;-)
