South African Comedienne Mrs. Evita Bezuidenhout from Darling is standing for President of South Africa at the next general Election

One of my favourite comedians is the South African satiricist Evita Bezuidenhout who pokes fun at the pompous, the self-important, the new elite and the past elite. She is happy to have a go at the WaBenzi (owners of the status car of the new elite and nouveaux riche in South Africa). Her headquarters is a corrugated iron complex on the west coast and is a Palace of Kitsch. On my last visit for coffee and koeksisters (VEEEERY sweet cake) and a delicious bobotie (mince and egg curry dish) I could not resist taking a few photographs of this phenomenon. Here they are for your interest. If you are ever in the area you must visit. For more details see Evita se Perron

You can read her State of the Nation Address
